Lots of Photos

I've been slacking on posting photos from the last month, so here's what we've been up to.

My sister Amanda went to a crew camp down at UVA, so Amelia and I went down with my sister Bunny to pick her up. We totally made it in time to watch the race.

With my sisters we spent some time shopping. Amelia picked up some nice looking shades.

Amelia spent some time with her Grandfather.

And decided to give him some attitude. Clearly she is my child.

Friends of my parents had a dinner for our family the night before the baptism. Here's Amelia with Grandmother (or Grandmodge) at the dinner.

Amelia hanging with Aunt Bunny at brunch after the baptism.

Here we are at the church after the baptism. It was almost as hot that day as it was today. Silly hot as the weatherman said.

The family after the service.

Amelia also celebrated her first 4th of July. Happy birthday America. She stayed up to watch the fireworks from a friend's apartment. She was not allowed on the balcony and had to watch from inside.

She's also been practicing sitting up in her chair. And apparently has been practicing her conducting skills at the same time.

She's also been getting into watching Red Sox games. Clearly not paying attention to me and watching the game instead.

When we were in Rhode Island Matt's aunt gave Amelia a doll. She's started playing with it, mainly by sticking it in her mouth, occasionally by giving her a hug.

We're currently calling the doll "Dolly" or "Tasty." We are taking other suggestions for names.

In other news, Amelia is adjusting nicely to her babysitters. She's very comfortable with them and has been behaving for them. Teddy has even been adjusting to them as well. I'm still getting used to leaving her with someone during the day, but it's getting easier.

Working On Her Skillz

Seeing how cute she can be after drooling all over herself.

Can I sit in this chair and put my foot in my mouth?

Working on flamenco skills

Seeing if she can move the toy with The Force.

Watch out Teddy, I'm coming for you.

Everyone's Favorite Pictures...

Baby in the bath!!!

Um, I'm not sure what's going on right now.

I'm resisting the urge to splash Daddy right now.

You're putting these on the Internet? Are you trying to embarrass me?

I think I like this.

Yeah, I think this is pretty awesome.

Baptism

Today was Amelia's baptism. We were excited for this day and everything was wonderful. Here we are with the priest and Amelia's godparents, Moira and Ryan. Amelia is wearing the gown that two of my brothers and two of my sisters wore. (I wore the family heirloom gown dating from the Civil War and managed to tear it under the arm so a new gown was needed. I was classy even then.) She slept during the service, woke up for the big moment, and was good for the rest of the service. Then she began to get a little fussy. I can't blame her because she was wearing about 10 pounds of clothing and it's almost 100 degrees outside and the air conditioning can only do so much.

Some of my family was able to come out for the service. Here we are with my sisters (from the left - Amanda, Bunny, and Anne.)
It was a great way to end my maternity leave. As of tomorrow I'm back at work. Boo.

Look Who's Talking

Amelia continues to learn more sounds and to voice her opinions on many things. She does not like tummy time any more.

She is much happier in her bouncy chair.

Happy Father's Day!

Amelia would like to wish her daddy a happy first father's day!
He's been very helpful as she does her flamingo impersonation.
And in teaching her to fly.
And in letting her win staring contests. Happy Father's Day Matt!! We love you very much.

Amelia had her first visit to Rhode Island last weekend (including her first plan rides.) We went up to celebrate her Uncle Steve's graduation from high school.
Congratulations Uncle Steve! We're very proud of you.
Four generations of Bennetts. Matt's father, grandmother, Amelia, and Matt.
Amelia and her Uncle John.
Checking out her Grandpa.

Amelia did wonderful on the trip. On the plane ride up the biggest problem was her deciding to kick my drink into Matt's lap and on the way home it was my turn for her to make a mess in my lap. It's the circle of life. My brother and I used to do the same thing to our mom every time we flew.

Amelia got to meet almost all her family on Matt's side. There was a graduation party for Steve (that I think was really a get to meet Amelia party) and a party that was in her honor. She had smiles for everyone, managed to sleep during each party and kept up her sleeping through the night. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

When we got home we had a visit from my sister Amanda. Amelia greeted her with a smile, but then started crying every time Amanda held her. Thankfully after a good night's sleep Amelia decided that she liked her Aunt Amanda. Especially when she feeds her.

2 Months Old

Today Amelia turns two months old. We celebrated by letting the nurse give her a bunch of shots (her immunizations.) I think she would have preferred a new binky. She handled the shots and the exam very well. She's doing great and the doctor was impressed with her alertness and control of her head. We're just happy to have a healthy baby.

Her stats as of today confirm that she's a big girl.
Length - 24 1/4 inches 97th percentile
Weight - 12 lb 2 oz 90th percentile
Head - 40 cm 90th percentile

She's spending the rest of the day sleeping and I hope she feels better soon.
