Crawling. Or at least close to it

I know what we're doing next weekend. Baby proofing. Lots of it.

And I thought I would share the zaniness of trying to keep Amelia and Teddy apart. These two are like magnets to each other. Note her complete disrespect of Matt's authority about a minute in.

A Week in the Life of Amelia

Amelia had a very busy week. My father was in town for a few days, so we joined him for dinner a couple of times. He talked to her about the Stanford football season and tried to talk me into letting her try a grasshopper taco. Shockingly enough I declined.
Later Amelia came down with her first serious cold. She had a sick day at home with mommy and after a rough day at home was feeling better by the next day. She did manage to get some play time in even with her runny nose.
She's also has worked on her ability to sit up. She's even managed to get herself up to sitting from laying down on her tummy.
She takes these things very seriously.
She's also working on her best goodbye to the paparazzi. Peace out.

Playing with the Big Kids

While I was negligent with the picture taking this weekend, Amelia did have a great weekend. On Friday night the three of us went out to what might be our final meal at a favorite neighborhood restaurant. While we toyed with the idea of letting Amelia have a taste of their signature desert (a grilled donut with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and apples - soooo good) in the end we decided against it.

Saturday was spent running some errands and then dinner with friends. Amelia had a great time watching the big kids play and really enjoyed sitting on Sabrina's lap while Stevie blew raspberries at her. She also enjoyed seeing their toys and I think we saw the first item that will go on Amelia's Christmas list. I got to have some wrestling time with the kids and then we all had dinner, including CUPCAKES!!! After the kids all went to bed we got to spend some adult time talking, including a little bit not about the kids. :)

Sunday we hung around the house, played (including the realization that Amelia can now get up on all fours so is very close to officially crawling), and took a long nap. That night we went to a first birthday party for Amelia's cousin. There were more big kids there but this time Amelia was a little more timid. She hung out with me, my uncle, my cousin, my aunt, and my cousins' lovely girlfriend. She did great and even took a quick nap in my arms during the party. On the way out she managed to get a taste of baby Erik's birthday cake and seemed to enjoy it, even though most of it ended up on her bib. On the ride home I think all the stimulation got to her and she cried till we got home. The moment I took her out of the car she passed out and slept through the changing into her pjs. She slept all night, tired from all the excitement of the weekend. She was very good this morning and was super excited to see the nanny. I think she knows that means she's going to the park, which means - time on the swings!!!

Tonight we're having dinner with my father so I'm hoping she's got one more night of good behavior in her.

At The Park

In the past few weeks Amelia has really started to enjoy the park. Most especially the swings. She goes almost every day with her nanny and the other girl in the nanny share. Both girls LOVE it.
After dinner tonight we went to spend a few minutes before coming home for bed. She had a fantastic time and was laughing every time we pushed her.

We've also started to explore the rest of the park. She's a little uncertain about the tunnel.

But she's enjoying turning the wheel. I think she wants to learn to drive.

The Many Faces of Amelia

Amelia is many things. She's sweet, active, hungry, and most of all, expressive. Here are some of our favorites.

Hey, what's up?

Yeah, I let Teddy lick my hand covered in peas. What are you going to do abut it?

Fine, I won't do it again.

I'm clean, can I please have my bottle now?

Can't talk right now, trying to crawl.

You have no idea how hard it is to be me.

TEDDY!!!!

I'LL LET YOU LICK MY FEET TEDDY!!!
I will totally win the Heisman. Check out my skills. Eat your heart out Toby Gerhart.

How Is That Comfortable?

This is how we put Amelia down in her crib. Totally AAP approved.

This is how we usually find her - up against the breathable bumpers.
Or at an odd angle.
Or in a seriously uncomfortable looking position in the corner.
Or in her absolute favorite position of face down in the corner.

Sniff, sniff

We are recovering from a round of sinus infections and pulled muscles, so please enjoy this picture of Amelia post bath. We will return with more pictures and adorable Amelia stories shortly.

I Get No Respect

Someone thinks she's a sneaky dog.
