For the record this time we did remember to bring the camera with us for most of the weekend, but with all the commotion we decided it would be best to not try and break out a camera.
Saturday morning started out with a trip to the grocery store. Amelia generally enjoys this and tries to "liberate" items from our cart. Thankfully she's not quite strong enough to lift the jam out of the cart, otherwise it would have been a bad scene.
Saturday afternoon we went to a party at a friends house. There were numerous little ones there, but Amelia has a special place in the heart for the host's son. On numerous occasions they have had to be pulled off each other for grabbing handfuls of diaper bum, trying to grab each other in the face, or trying to chew on the other feet of the other one. This time they were sitting up facing each other when they both grabbed the other on the cheeks and started kissing. We are so not ready for this. Thankfully for the rest of the party they were willing to just play around each other, but Amelia did manage to steal a wooden spoon from him. She's got lightening fast reflexes. They also have a dog, and Amelia spent a good five minutes starting at it trying to figure out why it wasn't Teddy. Then the cat came along and she was totally uninterested.
On Sunday we went to a block party on our street and then went to watch the annual Halloween parade in out neighborhood. Amelia played in the grass and ate a minimal amount of leaves. We got to meet some of our neighbors we haven't met before, including two more pregnant ladies which will bring the total number of children under the age of six on our block to at least 12. Half of those are under a year. After a brief nap, we walked down to watch the parade and see everyone in costume. Amelia was unimpressed as if she sees these kinds of outfits on a regular occasion. Matt and I were very impressed with some of the effort that went into the costumes (there are prizes for best dressed kid, dog and stroller) and ladybugs, princesses, Buzz Lightyears, and tigers were very popular this year. On the walk home we even ran into my cousin and his girlfriend who were out for brunch and has been amused by the parade of costumes by the restaurant.
After dinner and crawling some laps around the basement Amelia passed out and went to bed early. She stayed in bed till 7 this morning, so I think we fully wore her out this weekend, even if she never got to the swings.
